Boston has a long sports history and the locals have an incredible passion for their teams. Being part of the sports culture is a big part of experiencing this city. You can explore legendary stadiums, watch exciting games, and see the important role these sports play in Boston's identity.

1. Fenway Park: The heart of baseball

Fenway Park is the oldest active baseball stadium in the USA and a must-visit for any sports fan. To experience this iconic stadium you can do a stadium tour that lets you see the famous Green Monster grandstand and other legendary parts of Fenway park. If you prefer being part of the atmosphere in the stadium, you can get tickets for a Boston Redsocks game during the MLB season. When you’re there, don’t forget to try some classic stadium snacks like hot dogs and Fenway Franks.

Pro Tip: Get tickets to an evening game to enjoy the unique atmosphere under the lights.

2. Celtics & Bruins: Basketball and hockey at the highest level

The Boston Celtics (basketball) and the Boston Bruins (hockey) compete in TD Garden, a modern stadium located in downtown Boston. Both teams have a long history of success which draws in passionate fans and creates a unique and unforgettable atmosphere. Get tickets to one of their games and see the Celtics in action or attend a Bruins game and get carried away by the speed and intensity of ice hockey.

Pro Tip: Attend a game on a weekday to get cheaper tickets or go for a weekend game to experience the best atmosphere.

3. New England Patriots: Football and Sunday tradition

Even though the stadium of the New England Patriots is in nearby Foxborough, their fan base is huge in Boston. To experience the passion of Bostonians for football you can join the fans to watch a Patriots game at one of Boston's many sports bars. The atmosphere in the bars during a Patriots game is almost as exciting as the stadium itself and makes for an authentic Boston experience.

4. More sports experiences in Boston

Head of the Charles Regatta: Every October, this famous rowing event attracts sports fans to the banks of the Charles River.

Boston Marathon: The world's oldest annual marathon race is a must-see, whether you're a runner or a spectator. Marathon Monday is like a holiday for Bostonians when most locals get off work to head to the track and cheer on the runners.

Harvard Stadium: See a college football game in one of the oldest arenas in the USA.
